We have lost a dear friend, brother, and son. Bobby Ray Core died at home at 10:30 pm on December 19, 2020, after battling leukemia for the past five years. He was born in Baton Rouge on April 24, 1953. He was a kind, thoughtful and quiet spirit who had a tremendous zest for fun! His favorite place was Pensacola, Florida, where he spent many years sailing his catamaran in the Gulf of Mexico, returning regularly to the beach to hang out at his favorite spot. After a 40-year career with the Baton Rouge Clinic, Bobby retired in 2015 as a Supervisor in the X-ray Department.
He is survived by his long-time best friend and love of his life, Elaine DeBaun, his mother Bette Dees Core, a bother Chic A. Core (Shirley), his sisters Judy Dreher Lejeune (Charlie) and Jackie C. Funkhauser and six nephews and nieces. Having received time, attention and love from Bobby are Elaine’s children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his father Frank Ray Core.
Due to COVID 19 there will not be a memorial service at this time. Memorial donations may be made to a charity of your choice.
