It is with great sadness that the family of Bonnie Sue Laborde, who was later known as Bonnie Laborde Kemp and Bonnie Kemp Price, announces her passing on Thursday, May 8, 2025, at the age of 92, after a courageous battle with Alzheimer's disease. Bonnie graduated from Istrouma High School in 1950, then began a 38-year career with Standard Oil, which later became ExxonMobil. She started as a mail girl on the very first day the Baton Rouge main office was occupied and later worked as an elevator operator. In 1951, she was honored with the title of Miss Esso. Shortly after, she obtained a secretary position. Over the years, she led major professional recruiting efforts and eventually advanced to the role of first-line supervisor. She was a dedicated member of the Desk and Derrick Club for over 50 years, serving multiple terms as Director of the Board. She co-chaired the annual Mardi Gras Ball, served as Ball Captain, was honored several times as a maid, and was later crowned Queen. She was also active in the Woods and Waters Club, and the Tigerland Retiree Club, where she served on the board multiple times. She loved to bowl and was a proud member of the Exxon bowling and All Star Cut Ups leagues. Bonnie will be remembered for her impeccable style, her award-winning gumbo and peanut butter pie recipes, and her love of jitterbugging. She had a passion for dancing, traveling, and shopping, and she was especially proud of her extensive—and enviable—shoe collection. She is survived by her children, Karen Kemp (Jim Seidule) and Scott Kemp; granddaughter, Donna Ritchie; great-granddaughters, Riley and Hailey Sisung; and stepson, Jerry Price. She is preceded in death by her mother and adoptive father, Marguerite (McAdams) and Tommy Thompson. Bonnie was first married to Jerry “Happy” Kemp and later to Logan Price, both of whom passed away before her. Visitation will be at Greenoaks Funeral Home, 9595 Florida Blvd., Baton Rouge, LA, on Tuesday, May 13, 2025, from 8am until the time of funeral services at 10am. Burial will immediately follow at Greenoaks Memorial Park. The family would like to extend their heartfelt thanks to Missy, Margaret, Yvette, Randall and the rest of the staff of Garden View Assisted Living and Memory Care, as well as Doris, Kim, Chantel, and Virginia from Clarity Hospice, Home Health, and Palliative Care for their patience and loving attention over the past three years. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made in Bonnie’s name to Clarity Health Services, 9191 Bluebonnet Blvd., Baton Rouge, LA 70810, or by calling (225) 291-4700. Family and friends are invited to sign the online guestbook at www.greenoaksfunerals.com
