Boyce Smith, Sr.

"Boyce Smith, Sr., a native of Mount Hermon and a resident of Zachary, he passed away on Friday morning, September 9, 2016, at the age of 78. He was a veteran of the United States Air Force, a member of Carpenter's Local 1098, and a truck driver. Visitation will be on Sunday evening, at Rabenhorst Funeral Home East, 11000 Florida Blvd, from 5pm until 8pm, and will resume on Monday from 10am until funeral service at 1:30pm. Entombment will follow at Hillcrest Gardens of Memory Mausoleum in Baker. He is survived by his wife of 57 years, Rose Mary Smith; his three sons and daughters-in-law: Boyce Jr. and Tammy Smith, James and LeChell Smith, and Brian and Melissa Smith; 13 grandchildren: Joshua Smith, Sarah Key, Abbie Smith, Katie Wofford, Mandy Vollenweider, Jeffery Smith, Brennan Smith, Rylee Smith, Seth Smith, Lauren Jones, Jonathan McCain, Kristie Barrington, and Kayla Smith; and 16 great-grandchildren. He is also survived by his sister, Patsy Wales; numerous nieces and nephews; and sisters-in-law: Dele Haigler, Josephine Lewis, and Renee Lavigne. He is preceded in death by his father, Seth L. Smith; mother, Windoll Smith; father-in-law, Joseph A. Lavigne; mother-in-law, Rose M. Lavigne; brothers-in-law: Little Joe Lavigne, John Keith Lavigne, William Wales, and Louis O. Lavigne; his son, Jeffery W. Smith; grandson, Landon Maher; and great-granddaughter, Abigal Breland. Pallbearers will be his sons and grandsons. Honorary Pallbearers are Richard Blalock, Donald Haigler, Sr., and Seth Smith. Special thanks to the staff and physicians at St. Joseph Hospice and the Carpenter House.
