
Bruce C. Miley passed away, at the age of 84, on Friday, Jan. 13, 2012, at 2:15 a.m. surrounded by his loving family. He was a loving husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather. Bruce will always be remembered as a person who was a friend to everyone. He was a kind and gentle man of devotion and integrity. Bruce was born in Tickfaw on Nov. 18, 1927, and was a longtime resident of Baton Rouge. He served his country in the U.S. Army with tremendous pride while stationed in Japan during World War II. Soon after returning to the states, he met and married the woman of his dreams, and together they spent the next 61 years building a life together with their four daughters. Bruce retired from National Linen Service. After retirement he enjoyed fishing for sac-a-lait at his camp on Old River in Morganza where all his family will forever treasure the memories of togetherness. He also enjoyed woodworking, gardening and tinkering with just about anything and everything that needed fixing. More than anything he loved his wife and his family. His grandchildren forever brought him a life-size smile and a certain sparkle could be seen gleaming in his eyes when they were around him. He is survived by his loving wife, Theresa Roques Miley; four beautiful daughters, Deborah Miley Power and husband Don, Connie Miley White and husband Les, Sue Miley Trammell and husband Craig, and Janet Miley Granier and husband Jay; 10 grandchildren, Jason White and fiancée Mandi Richard, Chris Power and wife Kim, Carmen White Langlois and husband Jeremy, Michelle Power Marshall and husband Sean, Stephanie Trammell and fiancé Devin McLin, Stephen and Sally Trammell, Mandy Power, Casey and Emily Myers; four great-grandchildren, Cooper, Gavin, Jillian and Chase; sister, Arlene Miley Basso; and numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, John and Gladys Miley; brothers, Charles, James and Clarence Miley. Visitation at Rabenhorst East Funeral Home, 11000 Florida Blvd., on Sunday, Jan. 15, from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. Visitation will resume on Monday, Jan. 16, at St. Louis King of France Catholic Church, 2121 N. Sherwood Forest Drive, from 11 a.m. until Mass of Christian Burial at 1 p.m., celebrated by the Rev. Jack Nutter, followed by burial in Resthaven Gardens of Memory.
