Catherine Cardinale

"Catherine Cardinale, a native of Independence, Louisiana and a resident of Baton Rouge, passed away on May 28, 2017 at the age of 82. She was a 1953 graduate of St. Mary's Dominican High School in New Orleans. She earned a B.A. from Southeastern Louisiana University and a Masters in Education from Loyola New Orleans. She was a member of Delta Kappa Gamma. She began her career teaching history at T. H. Harris Middle School and was later assistant principal at Vernon Haynes Middle School, both in Metairie. She was assistant principal at Our Lady of Mercy in Baton Rouge from 1993 to 2000. She is survived by two sisters, Marian Cardinale and Rosemary Cardinale Groves, nieces and nephews Denise (Groves) and Eric Schroeder and Leigh (Fontenot) and Tommy Groves and great-nieces and nephews Camille, Marit, Caroline, and Ben Schroeder, and Charlie Groves. She was predeceased by her parents Rosalie (Marretta) and Isadore (DT) Cardinale. Visitation will be Thursday, June 1 at St. Jude the Apostle Catholic Church from 9 a.m. until a Mass of Christian burial at 10 a.m. celebrated by Fr. Trey Nelson. Interment will follow at Colonial Cemetery in Independence.
