
Catherine "Kay" "Naner" Bell Muffoletto, a loving wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother, passed away surrounded by her family and caregivers at Sunrise Assisted Living on Friday, Jan. 6, 2012. She was born on April 17, 1922, in Kinder, where she grew up having graduated from Kinder High School then later from the Spencer Business College in Lake Charles. She came to Baton Rouge where she met the love of her life, Joseph "Muff" Muffoletto. She helped him in his hot tamale business for many years. They were married for 66 years until his death on Feb. 28. 2011. Kay was a devoted homemaker who loved nothing more than taking care of her family. She was a wonderful cook and seamstress and loved music, dancing and traveling. She loved people and was the life of the party. She was a devout Catholic who was a member of Our Lady of Mercy Catholic Church where she took an active part in the Catholic Daughters of America and the 39'ers Club. She will be remembered by her family and friends as an angel on Earth, always there to help anyone in need. She is survived by her daughter, Charlene M. Favre; son, Charles Stewart Muffoletto; sister, Phoebe Isabella "Belle" Romano; grandchildren, Scott Favre and his wife, Tiffany, Shelley Favre Zeringue and her husband, Harris, all of Baton Rouge, Melissa M. Valdez and her husband, Eugene, Stephanie M. Cassady and her husband, James and Erin Muffoletto, all of Albuquerque, N.M. She was also a great-grandmother to Brandon and Elizabeth Favre and Christian Zeringue, of Baton Rouge, and Elena and Mary Theresa Valdez and Abigail Cassady, of Albuquerque. She was preceded in death by her husband, Joseph; parents; son, Warren James Muffoletto, M.D; brother, Stewart Bell; granddaughter, Jennifer Jean Muffoletto; and great-granddaughter, Madison Jean Cassady. Her daughter would like to thank her sitters, Brittany Slocum, Glenda Whittley and Chiquita Rose for the loving care and devotion shown to her mother and all the staff and residents of Sunrise Assisted Living for the compassion and respect that her mother received. Also, thanks to Hospice of Baton Rouge for the wonderful services that they provided. Visiting at Our Lady of Mercy Catholic Church on Thursday, Jan. 12, from 1 p.m. until Mass of Christian Burial at 2 p.m., celebrated by the Rev. Miles Walsh. Interment in Roselawn Memorial Park.
