Charlene Campbell Verret, born February 23, 1928 in Alexandria, LA, died in Baton Rouge on August 1, 2016. Preceded in death by parents Ralph P. and Oma A. Campbell; brother, Ralph P. Campbell, Jr.; and husband, Roland J. Verret. She is survived by her beloved siblings: sister Geri E. Campbell of DeRidder; brother James S. Campbell and wife, Joan, of Sulphur; and sister Marti L. Campbell of Heber Springs, AR. She is also survived by her three children: daughter Suzanne V. Chance of Baton Rouge; son J. Stephen Verret and wife, Inge, also of Baton Rouge; and son James M. Verret of Irving, TX. She leaves behind five grandchildren and one great-grandson: Heather C. Foil of Baton Rouge; Sarah V. Cothron and husband, Chris, and son, Corbeau J. Cothron, of Baton Rouge; Christa E. Chance of Astoria, Queens; Elysa J. Verret of Denton, TX; and J. Wyatt Verret, also of Denton, TX. Charlene was Assistant Treasurer of the Mobil LAGCO Employees Credit Union for 30 years. She volunteered with the Mental Health Association for Greater Baton Rouge and other charities. She was a member of the Caledonian Society of Baton Rouge and the Clan Campbell Society of North America. She attended Southwestern Louisiana Institute in Lafayette and Louisiana State University in Baton Rouge. A passionate reader, she was also interested in genealogy and politics. She loved her country and put her family first. A private service was held, followed by interment at St. George Catholic Mausoleum in Baton Rouge.
