

Charlene Thompson Woolie, 83, passed away peacefully on Thursday, January 23, 2014, at Ascension Oaks Rehabilitation Center in Gonzales, LA. She was born on April, 13, 1930, in Sikes, LA, where she met and married her husband of 52 years, E. C. Woolie. They spent most of their lives living in Baton Rouge before retiring to Centreville, MS in 1996. She enjoyed hunting, fishing, and the outdoors and was considered the “Annie Oakley” of her day. She especially loved animals and enjoyed feeding “most of them.” No animal or person ever went hungry in her presence. She also loved her family and made many wonderful friends through the years. She loved people and was very generous to all who knew her. Survived by two sons and daughters in law, Raymond and Karon Woolie; Douglas Woolie, and Brenda Woolie; six grandchildren, Wendy, Wylie, Lance, Camille, Meaghin, and Cassidy; four step grandchildren, Edward, Noelle, Tiffany, and Brad; 11 great grandchildren, sister in law, Fayrene Thompson, four nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband, E. C. Woolie; parents, Charlie and Ollie Ingram Thompson; son, Charlie Joe Woolie; grandson, Leigh Michael Woolie; two great granddaughters, Hannah and Grace Woolie; brother, Gerald Thompson; and sister, Dorothy Mills. Special thanks to longtime friend, Brenda Eaton, for all her help and loving care. Visitation will be at Greenoaks Funeral Home on Sunday, January 26, 2014, from 5 PM to 9 PM and will resume on Monday, January 27, 2014, at 8 AM until religious services at 10 AM conducted by Pastor Robert Lawrence. Burial in Greenoaks Memorial Park. Pallbearers will be Brad Dover, Bruce and Scott Mills, Sammy Salvato, Jason Watts and Lance Woolie.
