"Bubba" Heine Jr. went home to his Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, on Thursday, Oct. 15, 2009. He was 82, born Dec. 27, 1926. Charles graduated from Jefferson Military College where he was commander of the corps. He was a retired builder and contractor. At age 55, he founded Plains-Port Hudson Baptist Church, where he and his wife served the Lord faithfully. His love for God and his family will be forever remembered. He taught his four daughters many things, but the greatest of these things was love. He told his family right before he passed away to love one another, read the Bible and do what it says. He will be forever remembered for his beautiful smile, his strong faith, his sense of humor and the amazing love he gave to all who knew him. He is survived by his beloved wife of 64 years, Virginia Mae White Heine; and four loving daughters, Sheila Collins, of Jonesboro, Ark., Sherry Plaisance, Charlene Dunham, and Darlene Heine and significant other Steve Taylor, all of Baton Rouge. He is also survived by his loving brother, Norman E. "Pete" Heine, former mayor of Baker. Charles and Virginia have 12 wonderful grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren, soon to be 13 in February. Preceded in death by his loving parents, the Rev. Charles A. Heine Sr. and Edna Earle Cook Heine; and a sister, Lucille Bergeron. Visitation at Rabenhorst Funeral Home, 825 Government St., on Tuesday from 10 a.m. until funeral service at 1 p.m. Interment will follow in Hillcrest Memorial Gardens in Baker. Serving as pallbearers will be Ted Dunham IV, Adam and Ryan Lavigne, and Lloyd, Paul, Mike and David Plaisance.
