Charles Mury

Charles Louis Mury passed away on December 25th, 2024, at the age of 83. Charles proudly served his country in the United States Army 22nd Field Artillery Regiment, stationed at Fort Kobbe, CZ. After serving in the Army, he attended the University of Southwestern Louisiana, graduating with a bachelor’s in accounting. After graduation from USL, he worked as an accountant for Goodyear, BF Goodrich, Ethyl Corporation, and Albemarle. After retiring from Albemarle, Charles loved spending time with his grandchildren, including fishing in the lake behind his house. He also enjoyed playing golf with friends and his son on Saturday mornings. Charles was an avid LSU sports fan. He enjoyed cheering on the LSU baseball and football teams.

Charles is survived by his loving wife of 58 years, Karen Mury; son, Michael Mury (Chantelle); grandchildren, Lauren Courtney (Bradley), Garret, Keagan, and LilyRuth; great-grandchildren, Cohen Lane, Jillian Rose, and Everly Grace; sisters, Carol Higginbotham and Mona Mury; niece, Amy Higginbotham Carlin; and nephews, Jim Higginbotham and Bill Higginbotham.

Charles is preceded in death by his parents, Charles Gaston, and Lena Mae Mury; and daughter Jill Mury Mumfrey.

We want to thank all the most loving and caring staff from St. Joseph Hospice who took care of him and were always there to help us.

A private service will be held for the family at Greenoaks Funeral Home and Memorial Park.
