Rev. Charles "Milford" Walters spent his life "Serving God by serving others". He loved the Lord and loved serving His people. He served his country in the Air Force then entered Louisiana College to prepare for the ministry where he met and married Carol Jean Smith, the love of his life. Their precious daughter, Deleece Duahn was born and joined their wonderful life of ministry. They served several churches across Louisiana including First Baptist Boyce, and Tunica Hills Baptist while in New Orleans Baptist Theological Seminary where he received his Master of Divinity. In 1968 God chose the Baton Rouge area for their ministry. Bro Milford served faithfully in the Baptist Association of Greater Baton Rouge for 51 years at Greenwell Springs Baptist, Winbourne Avenue Baptist, Grace Baptist, Northside in Denham, and the Chapel at Baton Rouge General Midcity. He loved that his family shared in his ministry- Carol served faithfully in church life and loved being on the organ. Deleece loved being a "preachers kid" and now serves in full-time ministry. Corrbet and Currie Nichols loved being in Gramps' church and were proud that he baptized them and officiated their weddings. His delight in life was his family! He loved traveling and taking Corrbet and Currie on trips with Grand and Lady Bug. He dearly loved his son-in-law Steve and called him best friend. He loved his sister Melba, treasured cousins and his extended family. He loved serving Carol for their 65 years of marriage. He was grateful to son-in-law Steve Nichols for helping take care of whatever he needed. He was so proud of Corrbet Nichols and wife Brandy, their precious kids Hayden & Abby Hodges, and his name sake Beaux Charles Nichols. He adored Currie Duahn, loved her husband Joe Stewart, their precious Noelle Duahn and Jonah, and was excited about the upcoming birth of Evangeline Deleece this summer. Milford was preceded in death by his parents, his brother James Roy and niece Teresa, and treasured in-laws ¬Daddy Boy & Lady Bug Smith whose love and support he cherished. There was great celebration then he entered his eternal home on Sunday morning just in time for church! We know he was greeted by his Lord and Savior saying "well done thy good and faithful servant". Many were blessed by having been part of his life and ministry. He would want to make sure that you know that God loves you so much that He gave His life so that you might have eternal life. John 3:16 To God be the Glory for the life and ministry of Charles Milford Walters. Visitation will be Thursday, April 29 from 9-11 at Greenwell Springs Baptist Church with services at 11. Burial to follow in the church cemetery. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to Greenwell Springs Baptist KIDS Ministry where Deleece serves.
