Charlotte Mae (Schreiner) Johnson, 82, of Baton Rouge, Louisiana, returned to her Heavenly Father on March 19, 2024, after a 10-month battle with pancreatic cancer. Charlotte was born on July 1, 1942, in Louisville, Kentucky to the late Melton and Juanita (Walton) Schreiner. After graduating from Southeastern Christian College in Winchester, Kentucky, with a degree in Music Education, she moved to Louisiana. Charlotte spent many years working in the banking industry and over 18 years as a Compliance Specialist at First National Bankers Bank before her retirement in 2003. Charlotte was a member of Florida Boulevard Baptist Church. She loved vacationing in Kentucky each summer to visit her family and friends, singing in the church choir, taking care of her plants and flowers, spending time with the neighborhood family on Duchess Drive, playing cards with her friends, going to the casinos, and nights out dancing with Dickie and her friends. There was nothing she loved more in this world than her family and friends. She especially cherished time with her grandchildren and her great grandson, Gunnar, who she proudly doted over and spoiled every chance she got. Charlotte is survived by her loving and devoted husband, H.L. Dickie Johnson; son, Luster (Sandy) Hayden, and daughter, Connie (Joe) Maranto; grandchildren, Allyson Hayden and Sarah (Ross) Albarado; Great Grandchildren, Gunnar Reese and Easton Leader; step children, Andee (Maurice) Melancon, Rickie (Gretchen) Johnson, and Sonya (Ryan) Smith; 13 step grandchildren; brother and sister, Melton “Buddy” Schreiner and Connie Sue Summers; cousin, Kenny (Theresa) Moore; brothers-in-law, sisters-in-law, nieces and nephews. Charlotte is preceded in death by her granddaughter, Lauren Hayden; grandson, Joshua Hayden; sister Wanda (Kenny) Fulkerson; Porter “Chip” Summers and Charlotte Mae “Sugar” Summers who she considered her second parents; and mother-in-law, Virginia Johnson. The family wishes to thank Charlotte’s devoted caregivers at The Hospice of Baton Rouge: Brigitte Grizzaffi, Contina Gross, Lauren Mitchell, and Jay Buzbee. A visitation for Charlotte will be held at Rabenhorst Funeral Home East, 11000 Florida Blvd, Baton Rouge, Louisiana, on Monday, March 25, 2024, at 10:30 am until service begins at 12:30 pm. Burial will follow at 2:00 pm at Louisiana National Cemetery, 303 W Mt Pleasant Rd, Zachary, Louisiana. Pastor Jay Buzbee will officiate the service. At Charlotte’s request, in lieu of flowers, donations can be made in Charlotte’s name to The Hospice of Baton Rouge, 3600 Florida Blvd., Baton Rouge, LA 70806 (225-767-4673), or to a charity of one’s choice. Pallbearers are Ross Albarado, Jimmy Chabina, Matthew Giacone, Nick Johnson, Joe Maranto, and Jonathan Reese.
