

"Chris Craig Oynes passed away peacefully in Baton Rouge, Louisiana on Wednesday October 18, 2017 at the age of 70. Chris was born in Anaheim, California on April 28, 1947 to the late Christian and Lorraine Oynes. He held a Juris Doctor Degree from George Washington University and a BA in Political Science from California State University at Fullerton. He was a resident of Mandeville, Louisiana for 20 years. Dr. Oynes was retired from a federal government career that spanned over 30 years, of which his most recent position was Associate Director of Offshore Energy Production for Minerals Management Service. During retirement he volunteered at the local food bank, was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church where he served on the finance committee, and church endowment. He is survived by his two sons Erick Oynes and wife Heather of Longview, Texas, and Jonathan Oynes and wife Francine of Mandeville, Louisiana; one brother Curt Oynes of Sioux City, Iowa; seven grandchildren Liam Oynes, Clara Oynes, Colin Oynes, Loren Oynes, Christian Oynes, Landon Oynes, and Cameron Oynes. Relatives and friends are invited to attend service at 11:00 am on Saturday, October 21, 2017 at Rabenhorst Funeral Homes at 11000 Florida Blvd in Baton Rouge, Louisiana. The family will receive friends Saturday from 10:00 am until the service time at Rabenhorst Funeral Home.
