
Clayton Rogan Mahaffey, Sr passed away September 29, 2013 at Our Lady of the Lake Hospital in Baton Rouge, LA. He was born at Mount Gomer Plantation in Port Gibson, MS May 25, 1925. He lived on a dairy farm in Roanoke, TX until the family moved to Louisiana in 1942. He enlisted in the US Army Air Force in 1943 and served in the Pacific Theater during WW II. He was a graduate of Roanoke High School and received his Mechanical Engineering Degree from LSU in 1951. His career with US Rubber and Uniroyal Chemical took him to many plants across the US and including Taiwan. He is survived by five sons Clayton Bennett Mahaffey, Jr. and wife Margaret, Clayton Rogan Mahaffey, Jr., Daniel Dyson Mahaffey, Guy Charles Mahaffey and his wife Lott and Martin Shaw Mahaffey. Also by his sister and brother in law Gloria and JD Weldon. Also survived by seven grand children. He was preceded in death by his wife of sixty years, Bonnie Dyson Mahaffey, his parents C.B. and Florence Mahaffey and brothers Bennett, Rogan and Jack and two sisters Ruth Hamner and Florence (Mickey) Tabor. The family appreciates the time and efficient way in which he managed the family property over many years. He helped hundreds of friends in all walks of life and is a role model for friends and family to approach his level of success as a man, Father and friend. Visitation hours at Rabenhorst Funeral Home on Government Street will be Thursday October, 3rd from 5:30-8:00 and Friday 11:00 to 1:00 with services at 1:00. Burial will be in Magnolia Cemetery.
