
Clyde, born on Dec. 6, 1917, died on Tuesday, July 24, 2007, at age 89. He was a native of Memphis, Tenn., who graduated from Castle Heights Military Academy in Lebanon, Tenn., then attended the University of Memphis. On April 9, 1939, he married Mary Elizabeth Horton. Clyde entered the U.S. Army Air Corps during World War II and served as bombardier instructor at Carlsbad, N.M. After the war ended, he relocated to Baton Rouge. Clyde was a member of the American Legion Post 38 for more than 50 years. In the past year, he was a resident of the Louisiana War Veterans Home in Jackson. Clyde was preceded in death by his wife, Mary Elizabeth; and their daughter, Ann. He is survived by his daughter, Berry G. Bateman and husband Thomas B.; and son, J. Mark Graham and wife Darlene L.; as well as grandchildren, Graham B. McFerran and husband Stewart A., Thomas M. Bateman II, Kristin L. Richman and husband Joshua S., and Eric M. Graham. He has four great-grandchildren, Katherine E. and Mary M. Bateman of Lafayette and Benjamin D. and Zoe E. A. Richman of Birmingham, Ala. Clyde was a member of Trinity Episcopal Church, of Baton Rouge. Service was on Thursday, July 26, at Trinity at 10:30 a.m., with visitation at 9:30 a.m. in the church parlor.
