A resident of Baton Rouge, he died on Sunday, December 11, 2011. He was 87, and was a veteran of the United States Army having served in World War II. Visitation will be on Thursday, December 15, 2011, at St. George Catholic Church from 9am until religious service at 10:30, conducted by Rev. Tom Ranzino. Entombment will follow at the church cemetery. He is survived by his wife Elizabeth "Bettye" Butler; his daughter, Elizabeth Birchey Butler of New Orleans; and his son and devoted daughters in law, David T. Butler, Jr. and Myria Guerin Butler; and his grandsons: David T. Butler III, Stephen Butler, and Patrick Butler. He was preceded in death by his father and mother, John E. Butler, Sr. and Mary W. Butler; and by his 6 siblings. Serving as Pallbearers will be: David T. Butler III, Stephen Butler, Patrick Butler, Jerry Hoover, George Butler, Randall Butler, Blane Clark, and Richard Leggette. Honorary Pallbearers will be Jack Butler and Louis Bernard.
