

David R. Carpenter, a native of Eliot, Maine and longtime resident of Baton Rouge, passed away Sunday, July 17, 2016 at the age of 80. He was retired from Turner Industries with 33 years of service. He was veteran of the U.S. Army having served in the Korean War, attaining the rank of Staff Sergeant. Dave was an active member of Trinity Lutheran Church. Visitation will be at Rabenhorst Funeral Home East, 11000 Florida Blvd. on Thursday, July 21, 2016 from 6:00 pm until 8:00 pm. Visitation will continue on Friday at Trinity Lutheran Church on Friday, July 22, 2016 from 10:00 am until funeral services at 12:00 pm officiated by Rev. Dave Buss. Burial will follow at Greenoaks Memorial Park. Dave is survived by his wife of 52 years, Rica J. Carpenter; one daughter and son-in-law, Laurie Carpenter Duchmann and husband Larry of Baton Rouge; one son and daughter-in-law, Kenneth J. Carpenter and wife Chace of Nashville, TN; five grandchildren, Ally, Jackson, Alex, Ryan and Elizabeth; and a sister, Sylvia Ryan of Baton Rouge. A 1960 graduate of Louisiana State University, he received a BS in Business Administration with a Major in Accounting and graduated Magna Cum Laude. While employed at Turner Industries, Dave served as Secretary, Treasurer, Senior Vice President, Chief Financial Officer and on the Board of Directors. He was a member of the Louisiana CPA Society and the American Institute of CPA's. A dedicated and active member of Trinity Lutheran Church, he served as Treasurer, Auditor, and an usher as well as on various committees over the years. Dave was a member of the Bocage Racquet Club and was an avid tennis player. He played on many USTA adult, senior, mixed, combo, and super senior teams over the years and was on many Louisiana State championship teams. His hobbies included fishing, reading, and LSU baseball. Above all, he treasured spending time with his grandchildren. He was a generous, kind, and outstanding man who will be dearly missed by all.
