

Dewey Joseph Voinche, Jr. “DJ”, born on November 3, 1925 in Donaldsonville, LA passed away at his residence in Prairieville, LA on Monday, October 27, 2014, at the age of 88 with his loving family members at his side. He was a U.S. Army veteran of WWII, a retiree from Exxon and a volunteer at Woman’s Hospital. He is survived by his cousin and caretaker: Elsie Schmill; children: Vicki Allison, Gary “Buster” Bernard, and Danny “Butch” Bernard; sisters: Kathleen Bowman and Charlotte Quinn; nephew Steven Bowman and niece Kathy Bowman; and great nieces Stephanie and Allison Bowman. He is preceded in death by his father Dewey Joseph Voinche, Sr., mother Dora Richard, and brother Richard Voinche. Visitation will be held at Greenoaks Funeral Home on Saturday, November 1, 2014 from 9am until service time at 11:30am. Services will be conducted by Roy Allison (Elder of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints). Honorary pallbearers will be Gary “Buster” Bernard, Danny “Butch” Bernard, Steven Bowman, Sal Gallo, Richie Pitre, and Chuck Long. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made in Dewey’s honor to St. Jude’s Children’s Research Hospital. A special thanks to Egan Hospice and Becky Crocker for their loving care of Dewey.
