Donald Robinson"Don"Hammatt

A loving father and devoted follower of Jesus Christ, Don went home to be with his Father in Heaven Friday, December 25th, 2015. He graduated from Baton Rouge High School in 1960 and received his education doctorate from Louisiana State University. He served as a Captain in the Army and had a successful career working in 4-H Extension Service until he retired. Don was a gardener at heart. He loved to see plants and people grow into maturity. Friends and family were blessed with the abundance of his garden and his loving heart. Don loved his Lord, his family and his brothers and sisters in Christ. He is the author of The Jesus Story and Jesus In Me and has touched the lives of thousands worldwide through this ministry. Visitation will be at Rabenhorst Funeral Home East, 11000 Florida Blvd on Monday, December 28, 2015 from 5:00pm until 8:00pm and will continue on Tuesday, December 29, 2015 from 11:00am until funeral services in the chapel at 1:00pm. Burial will follow in Greenoaks Memorial Park. He is preceded in death by his father Edward "Ned" Hammatt, his mother Ida Mayhall Hammatt, and his brother Robert "Bob" Hammatt. He will be missed greatly by his family: brother, Edward "Buddy" Hammatt, sister Rainey Norins; children, Leslie Hammatt Bartel (Mark Bartel), Rob Hammatt (Dawn Hammatt), and Brent Hammatt (Kory Hammatt); grandchildren, Charles Hammatt, John Hammatt, Edward Hammatt, Lindsey Hammatt, John George Bartel II, Ned Hammatt, Isaiah Hammatt, Ashley Bartel, Shannon Bartel; and great-grandchildren, Harrison and Gabriel. He will also be missed greatly by his extended family and dear friends. Don believed Christ is Life. "I have been crucified with Christ; it is no longer I who live, but Christ lives in me; and the life I now live in the flesh I live by faith in the Son of God, who loved me and gave Himself for me." Galatians 2:20.
