Donna Demars Hebert passed away on April 12, 2025 at the age of 77. Donna was a truly selfless wife, mother, nurse, sister and friend to many. Her effortless love for life kept her going through multiple trials and tribulations with her health battling ovarian cancer since 2009. But her cancer did not define her, as she lived for her service as a nurse and her unending devotion to her family. Her late husband Gene, her two children and four grandchildren helped her live each day to the fullest. Her devotion to God and the Catholic Church also played an integral part in her life’s journey.
Her devotion to helping others began in 1986 when she started a new career as a nurse at Woman’s Hospital at the age of 38. She would work in the OB/GYN Oncology unit as a floor nurse until 2011 when she retired the first time and then again in 2019 for good. She helped countless patients in her lifetime and her devotion to fulfilling her calling kept her going through the strenuous work that is nursing. When she wasn’t taking care of patients, she was spending time with her four grandchildren and her family.
Donna is survived by her children, Gene Patrick Hebert, Jr, and Helaine Hebert Zito. She is also survived by her daughter in law Kelly G Hebert and son in law Travis A Zito. Also four grandchildren, Collin Hebert, Katherine Hebert, Sophia Zito, and Garrett Zito.
She is proceeded in death by her father, OJ Demars, mother Addie L Demars, and brother Gardy Demars.
Instead of mourning Donna by wearing black, we will CELEBRATE her by wearing shades of purple, her favorite color. Please honor her this way.
Visitation for Donna will be held Thursday April 17th from 9-11am at St. Alphonsus Catholic Church 14040 Greenwell Springs Rd, Greenwell Springs, LA 70739 with a funeral Mass immediately following at 11:00am.
The family would like to thank friends and family for the outpouring of love and support they have received over the past few months. Special thanks to Marlene Boudreaux and Glenn Jarreau, which whom Donna was incredibly close with and were by her side until she passed into Eternal Life. Their contributions emotionally and spiritually were very appreciated by Donna and we will be forever grateful.
