Dorothy Daspit Boyd

A retired school teacher with the East Baton Rouge Parish school system, she died Thursday, June 14, 2007, at the Our Lady of the Lake Regional Medical Center. She was a lifelong resident of Baton Rouge. She was a 1940 graduate of Istrouma High School and received her bachelor of science degree in education from LSU. She will be remembered as a loving mother and grandmother. Visitation at Rabenhorst Funeral Home East, 11000 Florida Blvd., on Tuesday, June 19, from 5 p.m. to 9 p.m. Visitation at St. Aloysius Catholic Church, 2021 Stuart Ave., on Wednesday from 10 a.m. until Mass of Christian Burial at 11 a.m., with the Rev. Donald Blanchard, celebrant. Survivors include her daughter, Linda Boyd; son, Brent Boyd and his wife, Joan Mire; a grandchild, Brandi Hasbargen Breaux and her husband, Scott; a great-grandchild, Madison Grace; and two sisters, LeEarl D. Griffith and Judy D. McCants. Preceded in death by her husband, Vernon Eugene Sr.; son, Vernon Eugene Jr.; parents, Wilbur J. and Ida Giroir Daspit; brother, Kenneth Joseph; and sister, Shirley D. Vicknair. Pallbearers will be Stephen McCants, Kevin McCants, Richard Daspit, Dwight Woosley, Rhett Vicknair and Scott Breaux. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to a Catholic charity of your choice. Special thanks to everyone involved with the care of Dorothy.
