Dorothy Jean "Dot" Cutrer Kimball, the gorgeous lady with a beautiful smile, passed away on Tuesday, September 16, 2014, surrounded by her loving family. Dot was born December 27, 1927, in Riceville, MS and grew up in Osyka. She was a cotton picking, potato sack wearing country girl who became Vice-President of a multi-million dollar corporation. Dot was a loving daughter, wife, mother, grandmother, great grandmother and friend. Her strong Christian faith guided her journey through life and the wind beneath her wings was her devoted husband of 63 years, Peter Nolan. They enjoyed going to church, cooking, fishing, dancing, entertaining, and traveling around the world in eighty days on the QE2. Dot and Pete valued their friends and family, and were always showing their compassion to those in need. When asked once what her hobbies were, Dot simply stated, her two adorable daughters. Dorothy earned much recognition at a time when it was very unpopular for women to work outside the home, let alone earn executive positions in business. She started working at age 16 and was the first secretary in the Safety Education Division and assisted in setting up the Drivers Education program in Louisiana schools. She was also the first secretary for the Better Business Bureau and Secretary to the National Commandant of the Marine Corps League, then the official hostess of the Marine Corps League's National Headquarters. Her home building career took off and landed her in Crofton, MD, a town she helped forge, pioneer and build. She was the first woman builder to make a speech at the National Homebuilders Association convention in Chicago. Her lifetime achievements include being listed in Who's Who of American Women, Who's Who in Finance and Industry, The World Who's Who of Women, and was elected to the 1999 Baton Rouge High Magnet School Hall of Fame. Dorothy is survived by two daughters, Donna Kimball-Lerma and husband Gil, and Brenda Kimball Dunnagan and husband Pat; three grandchildren, Kimberly Shea Smith, Tiffany Opal Dunnagan, and Norman Patrick Dunnagan, Jr; and two great grandchildren, Robert Michael Shingleur, Jr. and Nolan Thomas Perry. She is preceded in death by her parents, Hiram and Norma Cutrer, her husband, Peter Nolan, and one sister, Norma Lee Hurst. Special thanks to caregivers, Cathy Noel and Joan Skinner, and to The Crossing at Clarity Hospice of Baton Rouge for the tender loving care given to Dorothy and her family. Visitation will be at Greenoaks Funeral Home on Friday, Sept. 19th from 10:00 am until the funeral service begins at 2:00pm, conducted by Bro. Tommy French. Interment will follow at Greenoaks Memorial Park. Online condolences may be placed at www.greenoaksfunerals.com.
