JoseKutty Uncle is in my memory as far back as it goes... weaving through Louisiana, New York, Kerala. A close friend and relative of my parents, I remember him as a truly fun Uncle who laughed easily and had real conversations with adults and children. My parents made sure we knew that JoseKutty Uncle and Leelamma Aunty are treasures and our ties were strong and deep. They were a part of  the enlightened few who looked at life with a sense of value. My family and I shall remember Uncle as  a poet, an innovator, a scientist, educator, historian; his talents were innumerable. Questions such as, “Uncle,  what is your latest invention?”, or “ In what part of the world were you, recently?”, invariably led to the most amazing journey into his mind. We shall miss how his eyes light up when he tells a story, or how he can’t finish telling a joke because he’s laughing too hard. The giants in our lives are slowly getting together in the company of our Lord. Now, Uncle has joined them, so things are probably revving up, over there. May his soul rest in peace in the presence and mercy of God.

He is my wife's first cousin (Kunjamma Zacharia of Palakunnel family). I remember the times we met at Toronto, Scranton, Baton Rouge, Kanjirapally and lastly in our home in Malaysia.

Our deepest condolences to the bereaved family of  late Josekuttychayan. May God grant  them strength and peace needed to accept reality and move forward.
Death, though deeply sorrowful, is a part of life—a transition, not an end. It is beginning of new life, even if the body disintegrates that which is not made of matter continues. 
Amidst the millions who walk this earth, only a few truly touch the lives of others through their goodness and character. In this regard, Josekuttychayan's life was indeed remarkable.
I still vividly remember our long walk together from Kavunnada to Erattakulam,  before he left for US. That memory remains engraved in my Brain. He was a man of many talents—versatile and truly a genius by any standard like his father and my Uncle late EK Zachariah.
May his soul rest in eternal peace.

I was shocked to learn the news that my cousin brother Josekuttychayan is no more with us. We both belong to the same Elappunkal family descending from the great grand father Kurian Chacko.  We consider him as a genius born to another genius E K Zacharias who complied our family tree. The family tree which was complied decades back acts as a reference guide to our 600 families.
Ever since Josekuttychayan migrated to US he used to visit his relatives in India very often. He made his last visit with brother Tomy Zacharias eighteen months back. It was pleasant to listen his conversations with the family members narrating the past events and childhood memories. 
His humanitarian approach has helped charities at our local parish Little Flower church Punnaveli. 
We miss him, may his soul rest in peace, with his wife Leelamma cheechi.

After his retirement in the USA, he served as a consultant and visiting professor at Amal Jyothi Engineering College, Kanjirappally. During that time, I developed a warm relationship with him. We often spoke about my profession in insurance and about his son's company in the U.S. — Dr. Boby Joseph's insurance firm, named U. Thoppil, which focuses on retirement solutions for professionals, especially doctors, in Baton Rouge, Louisiana.

He also shared his retirement passion for renewable energy and hydroelectric projects. All of this happened during one of his visits to Amal Jyothi. He was especially proud of his father-in-law, Ulahannan Thoppil, and mentioned that all Thoppans could take pride in the fact that a registered insurance company in the U.S. carries the name U. Thoppil.

Josekutty belongs to Erattakulam family in Nedumkunnam, a branch of Kumbluvelil family of which I am a member. 
He was a genius, a loving, caring man, a staunch supporter of his family and community. He'll be sadly and dearly missed by all who knew him. 
May his soul rest in peace.

Josekutty Aliyan [ my  brother-in-law] was the Patriarch of our extended family in the USA. All of us reached out to him for his sound advice, guidance, and sharing of his practical wisdom and superior knowledge. He had  unrelenting love and dedication to his immediate and extended family. He set an example of  hard work, persistence in the face of difficulties, spirituality, and high ethical/moral standards. We will miss him deeply and will cherish his fond memories forever.
