Earnestine York (Mimi), our precious godly Mother, Grandmother, and Great-Grandmother went to be with her Lord and Savior on Saturday, October 24, 2015 at the age of 84. She was born on January 5, 1931 in Flat Rock, Alabama, eventually moving to Baton Rouge at the age of 13 and resided here until her passing. She was a strong woman of unshakable faith whose commitment and devotion was an example to all who knew her. She felt her purpose was to raise Godly daughters in the fear of God and serve Him all their lives. Her mission was accomplished as her grandchildren and great-grandchildren serve God to this day. She was always available to talk, pray, and listen to those who needed her help. She worked for 22 years as payroll manager at a local ministry and later taught a Women’s Bible Study at Healing Place Church for 17 years; “her girls” in her Bible Study were like her own, whose names she kept in her Bible. Earnestine had a servant’s heart and a willingness to do anything to help, but above all, her prayers for everyone will be greatly missed. She fulfilled 84 years of her God-given purpose here on Earth. She leaves to cherish her memory her daughters and sons-in-law, Edna and Tommy Lambert, and Dee and Wayne Austin; grandchildren and their spouses, DeLynn and Dino Rizzo, Nicole Brown, Candace and Mitch Mula, and Jonathan Lambert; great-grandchildren, McCall, Dylan, and Isabella Rizzo, Jhean and Beau Breard, and Roman and Sierra Mula. She was preceded in death by her parents, Jim and Ruth (Adkins) York; and brothers, Billy, Herman, and Bob. Visitation will be held at Greenoaks Funeral Home on Tuesday, October 27, 2015 from 10 a.m. until Funeral Service at 12 p.m. celebrated by Rev. Wayne Austin and Pastor Dino Rizzo. Interment will follow on the grounds of Greenoaks Memorial Park. The family rejoices knowing that Mimi is finally with her Savior in heaven dancing on the streets of gold and hearing, “Well done thy good and faithful servant!”
