I'm deeply saddened to learn of Ed's passing.
Knowing Ed for 70yrs, I have had the privilege of working with Ed and have seen first hand what his immense talent as an artist could bring to any project. His unequaled sense of humor has made us all laugh uncontrollably for decades.
His heart was as big as they come.
He will be sorely missed by all who knew him.

Only knew Ed through Facebook. We shared a common interest in music, social justice, political liberal ideology, and art.  We became Facebook friends I think around 2014. Ed was also compassionate and more than understanding of my lifetime mental health and addiction struggles. He later explained. 
He strongly encouraged me and my wife to see live Tedeschi Trucks and the Allman Betts Band. He seemed to have had a lot of early New Orleans Warehouse experiences but only shared small parts of those memories.
Journal a lot for most of my life as a form of therapy. For the last few years have been encouraged by friends to share more and more of my penned private thoughts and experiences on Facebook. When I occasionally share a piece that Ed felt was exceptionally well thought out written, he would immediately let me know.  
A few years ago, he was sharing on Facebook all of his favorite television dramas. And they would more often than not also be my wife’s favorites too. Seems she and Ed shared a deep knowing of art films and cinematography.  
When I was having a bad day, knew I always could open up Facebook and find one of Ed’s shares to brighten and lift my spirit. In a way he was, for me, a healer. 
I am sorry for your loss. Wanted you to know, though we only knew each other through Facebook and private letters.  Ed was always welcoming to me, and always eased my pain when I dearly needed a friend.  I am right now picturing him twenty-two years old at the heavenly gates in a Groucho Marx get up trying to get a laugh out of St. Peter.

Ed grew up near my house in Sherwood Forest Subdivision.  We were good friends, as all the neighbors played Basket Ball in his home's driveway.  
Ed's good humor made us all laugh.  I have many great memories of our High School Days at Broadmoor High School.

Rest in Peace to a talented friend.  Ed and his crew successfully helped me enter the 1970's. The parties at Maximillian Street were the hit of the decade.

Rest in peace my dear frined, as you were to so many.  I regret that I will be out of the country for the services but please accept my deepest condolences.

It is often the "crazy" stories that best capture the true essence of a person.

When I think of Ed, I think of an afternoon party we had just a few months ago at his home. Terry Burhans was in BTR for a visit, and Ed had organized a get-together with a group of us, including Leonard Kenyon and his wife Judy, Hunter Barrilleaux and Cammie Layton Barrilleaux, Maelane, and several of Ed’s other friends.

We were all there having a wonderful time reminiscing, except for one "minor" detail: Ed wasn't there. He was actually in the hospital.

But that didn’t stop him. About an hour or so into the gathering, Ed walked through the door to join his own party. He had literally checked himself out of the hospital because he refused to miss the chance to be with his friends.

I know it sounds a little crazy, but that is exactly how I will always remember Ed. He had a deep-seated need to meet expectations and a legendary drive to show up for the people he cared about. This was one of those rare get-togethers he simply didn't want to miss—especially since he was the one throwing it.

It was a "good times" occasion that I’ll always carry with me. Ed’s spirit, his loyalty, and his determination to be there for his friends, against all odds, truly defined the man he was.

Eddie was of many talents.  He was an illustrator, ad man, comedian, fish fryer, pizza maker, singer, actor, great father and husband. He was a best friend of many.  Loved by all. Gentle giant. Went through some very heart braking times that showed his toughness. I will never forget him. I love you Eddie!

I am so sorry to hear this news.  I am grateful that Ed and I had an opportunity to reconnect at our 50th reunion.  The two of us spent countless hours riding our bicycles and exploring the forest around Sherwood as early as elementary school.  He was a good friend who opened adventurous doors that have lasted a lifetime.  I will miss him.

Eddie was my cousin. He was older than me so my memories were of our family. His father was my Uncle Orrin who I Ioved  and respected very much. His Dad was very proud of him and often spoke of his accomplishments when I was growing up.  Even though I didn't really know him, I was always proud to call him my family. I loved seeing the photos he would post on facebook.  I would like to offer my condolensenes to  His wife Darlene and son Matthew and all the friends that were lucky to be a part of his life.
