A loving and devoted husband and father, he passed away on Sunday, April 29, 2007, at the age of 87. He was a resident of Baton Rougeand native of Plaquemine. He was a retired welder at Exxon Co. USA and was also a veteran of the U.S. Navy. Visiting at Rabenhorst Funeral Home, 825 Government St., on Wednesday, May 2, from 9 a.m.until religious service in the chapel at noon, conducted by the Rev. Joseph Steffas. Interment inSt.John theEvangelistCatholicChurchCemetery, Prairieville. He is survived by his wife of 67 years, Lucille Major "Baby-Lou" Ruiz; two daughters, Winslyn Hano and Sandra Cooper; son, Edward W. Ruiz III; brother, Gerard D. "J.D." Ruiz; five grandchildren, 11 great-grandchildren and a great-great-grandchild. He was preceded in death by his parents, three brothers and two sisters.
