

He was a kind, generous, and loving family man, and devoted father and husband. He enjoyed being with his family, and he enjoyed travelling. During the course of his life, he became a certified Master Diver, and he was an entrepreneur in the computer industry. He earned his degree in Industrial Engineering from Wayne State University in Michigan and his Master’s and Ph.D. degrees from the University of Southwestern Louisiana in Lafayette. His career was as varied as his life. Ed worked for the U.S. Postal Service in Allen Park, MI, and General Motors in Detroit before moving to Baton Rouge to work for Ethyl Corporation. He served as a nursing home administrator, created computer programs for Louisiana loan companies and nursing homes, worked for the Louisiana Department of Health and Hospitals, and worked at LSU in its Computer Rehabilitation Training Program. Ed retired from the Louisiana Department of Environmental Quality to enjoy his family and friends.
He is survived by his wife, Charlotte Vincik Hoover; son David Hoover; daughter Cheryl LeBlanc; and his loving grandchildren, great grandchildren, and great- great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his wife, Kathryn Giessel; and grandson, Matthew David Hoover.
Visitation will be held at Greenoaks Funeral Home and Memorial Park, 9595 Florida Blvd, Baton Rouge LA 70815 on Thursday, August 21st from 8:30 am until Services begin at 10am. Burial will follow in Greenoaks Memorial Park.
