
Ms. Ducote was born in Marksville, LA, September 23, 1920 and died at her residence in Baton Rouge, December 27, 2013. She was one of four children born to Willie J. and Christina LaBorde Ducote. She is preceded in death by her parents and three brothers, Magnus, Moore, and Nolan Ducote and is survived by several nieces and nephews. She received her early education in Bunkie having graduated from Bunkie High School. After high school, Ms. Ducote spent the next 25 years in the religious order of the Sisters of Divine Providence in San Antonio, TX, devoting that portion of her life to educating young people in Texas, Oklahoma, and Louisiana. From 1979 until 1999, Ms. Ducote worked for the Louisiana Department of Education. After retiring she spent much of her time working at Flowers by Jimmy Thomas. She was a member of Our Lady of Mercy Catholic Church. Visitation will be Monday, December 30, 2013, beginning at 10:00 am until a memorial service at 11:00 am at Rabenhorst Funeral Home, 825 Government Street. The family offers a heartfelt thanks to the staff of Southside Gardens Assisted Living and to Hospice of Baton Rouge. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations can be made to Hospice of Baton Rouge and to Sisters of Divine Providence, 515 South West 24th Street, San Antonio, TX 78207-4619.
