Ellen Bernard Covington

Ellen Bernard Covington, 96, passed away at home surrounded by her family on December 26th, 2020. Mrs. Covington was born on November 11, 1924 to Chaille Claude Bernard Sr. and Caroline Pearl Bernard. A lifelong native of Baton Rouge, LA, she attended Louisiana State University and obtained a degree in International Business and Finance with a minor in Spanish. She worked for many years at a local bank until she retired to raise her children. She is survived by her son and daughter-in-law, James Covington and Tara Covington; daughter Ellen C. Engelhorn; grandson, Michael Covington, granddaughter, Dr. Michelle Engelhorn Duhe, grandson-in-law, Justin Duhe; her nephews, Robert Bernard, John Bernard and Claude Bernard; and lifelong friend Mary Elizabeth Norckauer. She was preceded in death by mother, Caroline Bernard, father, Chaille C. Bernard Sr., brother, Dr. Chaille C. Bernard Jr., and sister-in-law, Mildred Bernard. Interment and graveside services will be held at Greenoaks Memorial Park, 9595 Florida Blvd, Baton Rouge, LA, 70815 on Saturday, January 16, at 11 AM with Reverend Peter Wong officiating.
