
A homemaker and a resident of Baton Rouge, she died Wednesday, June 4, 2008, at 3:40 a.m. She was 82 and a native of Anchor. Visiting at Our Lady of Mercy Catholic Church on Friday, June 6, from 9 a.m. until Mass of Christian Burial at 10:30 a.m., with the Rev. Miles Walsh, celebrant. Interment in False River Memorial Park, New Roads. She is survived by four daughters and three sons-in-law, Lynn Claire May Griggs, Mary Anne May Bouterie and Richard J. Bouterie Jr., Ellen May LaCroix and Karl LaCroix, Julie Gerise May Walker and Kelly Scott Walker; three sons and two daughters-in-law, Hiram A. "Gus" May, Joe Gerard May and Tammie Oubre May and Daryl Gerard May and Suzanne May; sister, Virginia "Joyce" Thompson Gomez; 13 grandchildren, Trent and wife Laura Griggs, Aimee Harris and husband Dr. Adam W. Harris, Leigh Anne Bouterie Vogt and husband Ken Vogt, Michael Bouterie, Matthew Bouterie, Melissa May, Melanie May, Emily May Kline and husband Kyle Kline Jr., Alexander "Alex" Hamilton May, Eden May, Kelli LaCroix, Caroline May and Tyler Little; and five great-grandchildren, Hailey Griggs, Michael Griggs, Ann Claire Harris, Averie Ellen Harris and Sydney Frances Kline. Preceded in death by her husband, Hiram A. May Sr.; and parents, William Arnold Thompson and Mary Mabel David Thompson. Pallbearers will be Hiram A. "Gus" May, Richard J. Bouterie Jr., Kelly Walker, Karl LaCroix, Michael "Trent" Griggs, Michael Joseph Bouterie, Matthew Richard Bouterie and Hamilton Alexander "Alex" May. Honorary pallbearers are Henry W. May, Percy H. May, Ronnie Richard, Brian Swindler, Ronnie Fierbend, James Langlois and Sam Bergeron Sr. She attended Anchor School and Rougon High School and graduated from Poydras High School and Baton Rouge Business College. The family would like to extend special thanks to the staff of Williamsburg Senior Retirement Center ane Landmark of Baton Rouge. Also special thanks to Dr. Louis Hargas, Dr. John McClelland, Dr. Gerald Militello and Dr. Gahan. She cherished all her classmates, friends and neighbors as treasured blessings.
