
A homemaker and a resident of Baton Rouge, she died Friday, Sept. 14, 2007, at Sherwood Manor Nursing Home. She was born Feb. 2, 1921, in Plaquemine and was 86 at the time of her death. Visiting at Rabenhorst Funeral Home East, 11000 Florida Blvd., on Saturday, Sept. 15, from 10 a.m. until service at 11 a.m. Interment will be in Greenoaks Memorial Park. A Mass in her honor will be scheduled at a later date. Survived by her husband of 67 years, Vern J. "Dena" LeBlanc; daughter, Sherry A. LeBlanc; son and daughter-in-law, Dena and Patricia LeBlanc; three grandchildren, Jeffrey and wife Courtney LeBlanc, Anne LeBlanc and Christopher and wife Lacey LeBlanc; and two great-grandchildren, Jordan and Hunter LeBlanc. She was preceded in death by her parents, Joseph Alvey and Marie White Hernandez; two sisters, Pearl Landrum and Lelia "Brownie" Polozola; and three brothers, Earl, Paul and Jerry Hernandez. She fought a long, painful battle with rheumatoid arthritis but was supported throughout by her loving husband. She was a master seamstress who brightened many Baton Rouge homes with her self-designed slipcovers. She was active in her church and helped to promote the Renew program, prayer line and Circle of Love Bible fellowship group while a member of St. Alphonsus Parish before health problems made her active participation impossible. She was a lifelong member of the St. Margaret chapter of the Catholic Daughters of America. She was a loving wife, mother and grandmother who will be missed by all. Memorial donations in her memory may be made to the Arthritis Foundation or a charity of your choice.
