Elsie Marie Guidry

Elsie Marie Guidry passed away on Thursday, March 11, 2021, at the age of 82. She was born on March 14, 1938, in Oscar, LA and was a long-time resident of Baton Rouge, LA. She will be remembered for her delicious, Cajun cooking and her love for family. She spent most of her life caring for everyone around her and volunteering at the Catholic schools. Some of her favorite things were caring for her little dogs, spending time with her siblings, visiting with her children and grandchildren, and spending time in the yard planting flowers and raking leaves. Some of our fondest memories are spending time in Grand Isle sitting on the beach, Thanksgiving at the country house, dyeing Easter eggs, and weekly trips to New Roads to visit with her parents. Elsie is survived by her children, Mike “Bird” Guidry, Glenda Youngblood (Noel), Craig Guidry, and Connie Guidry; grandchildren, Lauren Ruckel (Ryan), Allison Youngblood, and Justin Jones; great-grandchild, Juliette; siblings, Rosemary, Marylee, Teresa, Robert, Barbara, and Catherine “T-Cat”; and numerous nieces, nephews, and extended family. She is preceded in death by her husband of 53 years, Alphonse; parents, Singletary and Angelle Jarreau; siblings, Julia Mae, Wilfred, Angelina, and Larry; and her beloved dogs, Chi Chi and Bella. Visitation will be held at Greenoaks Funeral Home, 9595 Florida Blvd., Baton Rouge, LA, on Monday, March 15, 2021, from 4:00PM until 7:00PM. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at Our Lady of Mercy Catholic Church, 445 Marquette Ave., Baton Rouge, LA, on Tuesday, March 16, 2021, at 10:00AM.
