

"Emalie French McNair was born in Brookhaven, MS on September 4, 1916 and passed away June 23, 2017 in Baton Rouge. She completed the public schools in Brookhaven and graduated from Mississippi State College for Women in 1938. Prior to her marriage to Dr. James J. LaNasa, in 1941, she was a registered medical technologist at Charity Hospital and Louisiana School of Medicine in New Orleans. After her husband completed his tour of duty with the United States Army Medical Corp and completed his medical training at Charity Hospital in New Orleans she moved with her family to Baton Rouge in 1949. She was a member of St. James Episcopal Church and a member of the Alliance of The East Baton Rouge Parish Medical Society, the Louisiana State Medical Society, The Southern Medical Society, and the American Medical Association. She was also a member of the Baton Rouge Chapter of the Daughters of the American Revolution and the Magna Carta Dames. She was also a member of the Madames Luncheon Club, two book clubs, and was a charter member and Ball Captain of The Krewe of Iduna. She is survived by her son, Dr. James J. LaNasa, Jr. and spouse Jean, her daughter, Jean F. LaNasa; four grandchildren, Katherine L. Show and spouse Grant, Stephen LaNasa, Emalie Michele Brown, and James Scott Cameron; two great grandchildren, Henry Hopper and Eloise Show; three nieces, Claudette E. Roberts and spouse Dr. James G. Roberts, Mattilyn L. Fraser and spouse Sam, and Gay LaNasa and spouse Kathy Keefer; a nephew, John R. LaNasa; and numerous great nieces and nephews. She is preceded in death by her husband Dr. James J. LaNasa, Sr.; two sisters-in-law, Zina L. Eccles and Edna L. White; a brother-in-law, Dr. Matthew J. LaNasa; and a brother, Stephen Bertram McNair. Visiting will be Tuesday, June 27, 2017, at St. James Episcopal Church from 10:30 am until religious services at noon. Entombment will follow in Roselawn Memorial Park Mausoleum. The family would like to thank all of her sitters for their loving care and kindness and Cardinal Hospice of Baton Rouge and their staff.
