

Born March 22, 1931, Eric E. Crake went Home to the Lord as he passed away peacefully holding the hand of his loving and devoted wife of 20 years, Marilyn Dickson Crake, Saturday, October 11, 2014. He was a wonderful father and best friend to his daughter, Caress Crake Threadgill, and his son, Lance Edred Crake, wife Stacie Crake. Survived by his stepdaughter, Teresa Norris, her husband, Michael Norris. Eric was a very special grandfather known as "Rah Rah" to his 6 grandchildren: Brent Threadgill, Eric Threadgill, Chance Eric Crake, Alex Norris, Thomas Norris and Taylor Norris. Preceded in death by his parents Wilfred St. Maur Elmore Crake and Sarah Davison Crake and by his brother, Mervyn Wilfred Crake and Lorene "Dixie" Dickson. He is also survived by his sister in law, Maridelle Crake of Kerrville, Texas and her three children; Kyle Crake, Trey Crake, Piper Crake Gardner, Former wife, Sandra Crake, mother of his two children. Eric Crake was of British decent, father, Wilfred E. Crake born Rhodesia, Africa and Sarah Turnbull Crake of Durham County, Fishborne, England. His father was a patent engineer for Royal Dutch Shell Oil. Eric was born in Hobbs, New Mexico, lived in Trinidad as a youth, grew up in Houston, Texas where he graduated from Lamar High School. He was an athlete and an Eagle Scout and earned "The Order of the Arrow". Eric graduated with Industrial Engineering degree with honors from Georgia Tech University in 1953. He was a starting point guard and known as "The Gold Streak" for his quick and non-traditional plays on the basketball team 1951-53 for Coach John "Whack" Hyder and Athletic Director, Bobbie Dodd. Eric Crake, #30 still holds the record to date for the most rebounds in a single game against the University of GA. He was awarded All American Basketball for 6 feet height and under. He was a member of the Sigma Chi Fraternity. He proudly served in the U.S Army in Fairbanks, Alaska as First Lieutenant Artillery and was the youngest Battery Commander in Alaska in 1956. Eric Crake enjoyed a 65 year career in the Industrial Piping Supply Industry. He was a founding member of PVF, Inc (Pipe Valves&Fittings), Distributor Sales, Distributor Stainless and President, Total Fitting&Valve. Eric's honesty, integrity and business ethics made him well-respected and admired by all that knew him. He was a member of the Baton Rouge Jaycees, The Southern Club, Founding Member of the Camelot Club, The Harlequins, Member of St John's Methodist Church. He had a wonderful circle(s) of friends of all ages that he treasured, and enjoyed all sports. Although he was aRamblin' Wreckfrom Georgia Tech he was also a big LSU Tiger fan! As he requested, his ashes will be placed at his ancestral church, St. Andrew's Church in Jevington, England. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations can be made to The American Heart Association or St. Johns Methodist Church, Baton Rouge, LA. Visitation will be Friday, October 17th at Rabenhorst 825 Government St. 5 pm- 8 pm. Memorial Service, Saturday October 18th at St Johns Methodist Church, 9375 Highland Road. Visitation 11 am and service at 12 pm;because Eric knows it's Game Day!
