
Erika Christa Fuchs Duffield passed away in Baton Rouge on Monday, Oct. 6, 2008. She was born in Guben, Germany, on Aug. 24, 1937, to Maria Magdalena Schutze and Thomas Fuchs. She came to New York with her mother in 1954 and remained in the United States where she proceeded to raise her family. She moved to Baton Rouge in 1975. She was active in the LSU Campus Club, various school PTA organizations, Boy Scouts, Girl Scouts and the Kenilworth Civic Association. She divided her time between Germany and the United States throughout her life. She enjoyed playing bridge, completing crossword puzzles in German, gardening, baking and cooking. She owned and operated the Bavarian Inn Restaurant near LSU from 1980 to 1985. She recently enjoyed a family trip to Disney World, which exemplified her love for travel and spending time with her children, grandchildren and husband. She is survived by her beloved husband of 42 years, Dr. Dennis Duffield; daughter, Christine Richardson and her husband, J. Patrick Richardson, and their children, Alexandria and Taylor Richardson, of Ooltewah, Tenn.; daughter, Dr. Deborah Duffield, of Harrison, Tenn.; son, Dr. Derrick Duffield and his wife, Deborah Lynn Duffield, and their children, David, Danielle and Dylan Duffield, of Petal, Miss.; a sister and multiple nephews and nieces in Germany. Visitation at Rabenhorst Funeral Home East chapel, 11000 Florida Blvd., Baton Rouge, on Friday, Oct. 10, from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. Religious service at Trinity Lutheran Church at 1 p.m. Saturday, conducted by the Rev. Ben Bahr.
