

“I have fought the good fight. I have finished the race. I have kept the faith.” Ernest completed his journey on March 13, 2015, at Ochsner Hospital in New Orleans at the age of 63. He was born October 29, 1951, in New Orleans, grew up in Hammond, LA and was a resident of Baton Rouge. He is survived by his wife of 42 years, Shirley Dousay Bonaccorso; a son , Ernest F. (Shannon) Bonaccorso III of Baton Rouge; two daughters, Kathryn Rose Bonaccorso and Florence Marie (Ryan) Folse of Ponchatoula; grandchildren, Joseph Michael Folse of Ponchatoula and Maggie Faithe Bonaccorso, Peyton and Emma Crawford of Baton Rouge. He is also survived by his mother, Rosemary Bonaccorso of Hammond; siblings, Ferdinand “Skip” Bonaccorso, Sidney (Linda) Bonaccorso, Agnes (John) Bogle, Florence (Steve) Saenz all of Hammond, LA and John (Doris) Bonaccorso of Orange Park, FL.: numerous nieces, nephews and other relatives. In life he was a very outgoing people person, so he also leaves behind many whom he called friend. He was preceded in death by his father, Ernest F. Bonaccorso; his paternal grandparents, Ferdinand and Clara Bonaccorso; and maternal grandparents, Sidney and Florence Cassreino. He was a parishioner of St. Louis King of France Church; a 45-year member of the Knights of Columbus and a charter member of Council 9016 of which he was proud to have been a Past Grand Knight; a Past Faithful Navigator of Msgr. Gassler Fourth Degree Assembly, a member of St. Louis King of France Ushers; and a charter member of the Southeastern Louisiana University ROTC Alumni Chapter. Visitation will be Monday, March 16, 2015, 5:00pm-9:00pm at Greenoaks Funeral Home in Baton Rouge with a Rosary at 6:30pm. Visitation will continue at St. Louis King of France Church on Tuesday, March 17, 2015 at 9:00am until Mass of Christian Burial at 10am, conducted by Father Jack Nutter. Interment will follow at Greenoaks Memorial Park. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the St. Louis King of France Parish Building Fund or to a favorite charity.
