Ernestine James “Ernie” went peacefully to be with her Lord at 3:30 pm on Sunday, December 26, 2010 at the Carpenter House of St. Joseph Hospice. She was a loving mother and grandmother. A native of Woodville, Miss and a resident for 40 years of Baton Rouge, La. She retired after 33 years of employment as an ORS Specialist IV for the Department of Labor. She is survived by a devoted daughter, Matina D. James; loving grandson, Gabriel M. James; godson, Mario M. Boygents; sister, Delores Bland and her husband Nolan; brothers, Madison Steward and his wife Jessie, Gary James Sr. and his wife Diana, and Samuel Lacey, Jr.; four uncles; three aunts; and numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins. She is preceded in death by her parents, Samuel Lacey and Ninnie James Pointer; brothers, Michael James, Kelvin James, and Willie Lacey; and sisters, Carolyn Boygents, and Laura Lacey Jones. A special thanks to the staff at the Neuro Medical Center-Surgical Hospital, Dr. Lou Corsten, Dr. Jon Olsen, Dr. Renee Levine at Mary Bird Perkins, the staff at Our Lady of the Lake Hospital, the Carpenter House of St. Joseph Hospice, Baton Rouge General Bluebonnet Emergency Room and Baton Rouge Homecare. Visitation will be at Greenoaks Funeral Home on Friday, December 31, 2010 from 8 am until religious services at 10 am conducted by Reverend Robert L Scott Jr. Interment will be in Bleakhouse Baptist Church Cemetery, 5499 Hwy 24 East, Woodville, Miss.
