A native of Fluker and resident of Baton Rouge, she died on Friday, May 18, 2012 at Our Lady of the Lake Regional Medical Center. She was 89. Visitation at Rabenhorst Funeral Home East chapel, 11000 Florida Blvd., on Monday, May 21, from 8 a.m. until religious services at 9 a.m. conducted by Pastor Oren Conner. Graveside services will be at 11 a.m. Monday at Tangipahoa Cemetery. She is survived by a daughter, Joye Lynn Young; sister, Clara Heiman; and numerous nieces and nephews. Eugenia was preceded in death by her husband, Shelby Preston Young; parents, Neal and Eva Nesom Hyde; and five brothers, C. J., Percy, Edwin, Elmer and Claude Hyde. She was a former member of Harrell's Ferry Road Baptist Church. Special thanks to Dr. Patrick Gahan and Dr. Mark Zielinski for their loving care during her illness.
