

Evan Park Howell, M.D. went to his Lord and Savior Jesus Christ on the morning of May 28, 2012. He was born on November 5, 1936, to his parents Thelma nee Marvin and Park Howell, M.D. He is survived by his children: Evan Park Howell III and Leanne Saloom Howell, Elizabeth Howell Leeper, Dan Leeper, and Ellen H. Mills and Mark Mills; his grandchildren: Alexandra Howell, Kate Leeper and John Howell; and his loving and faithful younger brother Clayton J. "Rick" Henderson and his wife Jackie.
At the age of twelve, he was struck with polio and never walked unassisted again. After four years of hospitalization and rehabilitation, he later graduated from Tulane University and then Tulane Medical School in 1962. He became a Neurologist and was later named a Fellow of the American Academy of Neurology. He believed in community service, serving on the Boards of St. Scholastica Academy, the St. Tammany Art Association, and the New Orleans Neurological Association.
The family wishes to thank Pastor John Blewitt and the Congregation of Faith Presbyterian Church in Baton Rouge, who lovingly cared for our father in the final years of his life. The family also wishes to thank his patients and the medical professionals with whom he served. They gave our father such meaning and dignity to his life.
Visitation will be held from 8:30 to 10 a.m. on Thursday, July 5, 2012 in Baton Rouge at Greenoaks Funeral Home, 9595 Florida Boulevard, with the funeral service to follow at 10 a.m. Internment will immediately follow in New Orleans at 1:45 p.m. at Lake Lawn Park Mausoleum, 5454 Pontchartrain Blvd.; and a post internment gathering to be held at 2:15 p.m. at Lakeview Christian Center located near the corner of Veterans and Fleur de Lis Boulevards. Family and friends are invited to attend as they may be able. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be sent to Faith Presbyterian Church, 12855 Old Hammond Hwy, Baton Rouge, LA 70816.
