Evelyn Faul Huval, born July 6, 1938, passed peacefully into the presence of her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ on December 18, 2025, at the age of 87. She lived a full, faithful, and hardworking life centered on family. Faith and love.
She was married to the love of her life Ernest for 66 years. Together they built a strong and enduring marriage that remains a beautiful example to all who knew them. Ernest survives her.
She was a devoted mother to three sons: Tony (Phyllis), Craig (Kellie), and Scott (Patti). Her boys were the pride of her life. She loved them fiercely, encouraged them constantly, and expected the very best from them. Through her example, she instilled a strong work ethic, a deep love for the Lord, and a great sense of humor in them.
She was also a loving second mother to her niece and nephew Chris and Becky Porche, who were like children to her and held a special place in her heart.
She was a proud grandmother to nine grandchildren, two step-grandchildren, and eleven great-grandchildren, all of whom brought her immense joy.
Evelyn was born in Church Point, Louisiana, to Valmont and Laura Faul. One of eighteen children, she grew up in a sharecropping family. She often spoke of how poor they were-though she always said they didn't know it at the time. There was always food on the table and plenty of friends in the form of brothers and sisters. She is survived by two siblings.
Her best friend was her beloved sister, Liera, who passed away in 2021. She also cherished lifelong friendships with Rose Cormier and Maxine Tircuit. She and "Aunt" Rose- who wasn't really an aunt but felt like one- attended business school together, forming a bond that lasted a lifetime. Maxine has been a friend since 1966. For more than 50 years, she worked side by side with her husband running an actuarial consulting business. While Ernest served as the actuary, Evelyn handled the bookkeeping, payroll, taxes, and -most importantly- the raising of three boys.
A tireless worker and the backbone of both the business and the family, she was also remarkably gifted with her hands- an outstanding seamstress who made many of her boys' clothes, including the unforgettable disco shirts they proudly wore. She was a devoted gardener known for cultivating beautiful red roses with care and pride.
She loved to laugh, cook, and bring people together. Her rice dressing and crawfish etouffee were legendary, and her kitchen was always a place of warmth and welcome. She loved music, especially "The Little Drummer Boy" and "The 12th of Never."
A faithful Christian, Evelyn lived with confidence in her salvation and often spoke with excitement about heaven. She looked forward to being with Jesus and reunited with those who had gone before her-and today, that hope has been fulfilled. She will be deeply missed and lovingly remembered for her strength, faith, generosity, humor, and unwavering love for her family.
The family would like to extend their heartfelt gratitude to the staff at St. James Wellness Center and Baton Rouge Hospice for their compassionate and excellent care and a special thanks to Dr. Ubaid Abbasi for his devotion to his patients.
Relatives and friends are invited to St. Isidore Catholic Church on Saturday, December 27, 2025 for a visitation beginning at 9:00AM until the funeral mass beginning at 11:00AM. A burial is to follow at Hillcrest Cemetery in Baker, LA.
