" Matthew 25:21. A generous and loving husband, father and grandfather, he passed away peacefully on Thursday, April 12, 2007, at 9:20 a.m.A native and resident of Baton Rouge, he was 85. He is survived by the love of his life, his devoted wife of 65 years, Theo W. Carpenter; son, R.F. "Bud" Carpenter; daughter, Cathy Hernandez; granddaughter, Lindsey L. Hernandez; brother and sister-in-law, Thomas F. "Trigger" and Aletha W. Carpenter; sisters, Eva Mae Hausey, Billie Smith, Ned Carpenter and Faye Joseph; brother-in-law, Maurice "Sonny" Bailey; and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins. Preceded in death by his parents, F.G. "Hun" Carpenter Sr. and Eva Carpenter; sister and brother-in-law, Allie "Totsie" and Versie Watts; sister, Bobbye C. Bailey; brothers-in-law, Joe Carpenter, Louis Hausey, Avery Joseph and the Rev. Ted Smith; and son-in-law, Warren W. Hernandez. He loved planting, working and sharing his gardens, raising cattle, fishing at his camp at Old River, little children, especially babies, the LSU Tigers, Tuesday night drill with the Greenwell Springs Youth Riders, working with his brother at his farm in Norwood; but most especially spending time with his family. He and his brother owned and operated Gulf South Wrecking in Central for more than 45 years until they retired. He was a member of the U.S. Coast Guard and a lifelong active member ofBlackwaterUnitedMethodistChurchand an honorary member of the Greenwell Springs Youth Riders. Visiting atBlackwaterUnitedMethodistChurchon Saturday, April 14, from 10 a.m.until service at 1 p.m., conducted by the Rev. William "Bill" Moon and the Rev. Linda Hagan. Interment in the church cemetery. Pallbearers will be Monroe Allmond, John Bailey, Scott Bailey, Todd Bliss, Chad Roy and Leland Stockwell. Honorary pallbearers are T.H. "Tom" Montgomery, Al Tircuit, Mike Pizzolato, Kelly Manno and his nephews. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorials be made to the operating budget atBlackwaterMethodistChurch. The family would like to thank Dr. Kean Day and the staff at the Baton Rouge Clinic along with Dr. Steven Cavalier and his staff.
