"Frances Barbara Fullerton Prestridge, 87, passed away peacefully at home in Baton Rouge on May 1, 2017, from advanced stages of dementia. She was born in 1930 in Correctionville, IA and moved south with her family when she was 4 years old, living first in south Texas, then MS and LA. She attended 12 different schools before graduating with honors in Hattiesburg, MS. She graduated from Baton Rouge Business College in 1948, met Jay, and after a very short courtship, got married in August, 1948. She gave birth to 9 children, with 8 still living, and worked for 40 years as a bookkeeper at Food Town and Holloway Companies. She was a long time member of St. Louis King of France and then St. Alphonsus Catholic Church. She was our daddy's faithful traveling companion to every state except Hawaii. She was a voracious reader and loved working any kind of crossword puzzles, as long as they were difficult, Sudoku, cryptograms, and even jigsaws. These hobbies were taken away as her disease advanced. She was a faithful wife for 53 years and a wonderful, loving mother. She will be greatly missed; her passing leaves a huge hole in our hearts. She is survived by her sons: Barry (of Missouri), Jeff, Harry, and John Prestridge; daughters: Jamie Sparks and husband Carl (of North Carolina), Barbara Berthelot and husband David, Suzanne Bel and husband Jim, and Teresa Phillips and husband Alcee; brother, Robert Fullerton and wife Lynda; and brother-in-law, Owen Prestridge and wife Ada. She is also survived by her grandchildren: Kandace Zumbro, Sara Lemoine, Heather Jenkins, Michael and Caleb Prestridge, Stephen Bel, Jason and Chris Sparks, Trish, Rachel and Eric Phillips, Emily Ruiz De Chavez, and Amber Hays; 24 great-grandchildren; and 4 great-great-grandchildren. She is preceded in death by her husband, J.C. Prestridge, Jr.; parents, Roy W. and Opal Fullerton; infant son, Stephen John; father and mother-in-law, J.C. and Estelle Prestridge; and sister-in-law, Elizabeth Fullerton. Visitation will be at Rabenhorst Funeral Home East, 11000 Florida Blvd, on Thursday, May 4, 2017, from 10am until funeral service at 1pm, conducted by Bro. Glen Miers. Burial will follow at Greenoaks Memorial Park. Serving as Pallbearers will be Jason and Chris Sparks, Stephen Bel, Caleb Prestridge, and Eric and Al Phillips. Our sincerest thanks go to Ammie Dupar, Sylvia Rogers, and Trena Moses (her loving caregivers), Dr. Adrian Landry, and the staff at Audubon Hospice. Please consider a donation in her memory to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital.
