A resident of Baton Rouge, a former resident of Memphis, Tenn., and a native of Cleveland, Miss., she died Tuesday, Feb. 5, 2008, at 11:30 p.m. at her home. She was 81. Visiting at Rabenhorst Funeral Home, 825 Government St., on Sunday, Feb. 10, was from 3 p.m. to 5 p.m. Visiting at St. John's Methodist Church, 9375 Highland Road, on Monday, Feb. 11, from noon until religious service at 1 p.m., conducted by Timothy Lawson. Interment in Resthaven Cemetery. She is survived by her daughter, Marilyn Rowell Ball, of Baton Rouge; son, Richard Alan Rowell, of San Francisco; sister, Dorothy Sparkman, of Redlands, Calif.; two grandchildren, Luke Ball, of Baton Rouge, and Andrea Ball, of Park City, Utah; and two great-grandchildren. Preceded in death by her husband, Richard Lamar Rowell. She was born in Mississippi and attended Mississippi State College for Women before moving to Memphis. She married Richard Rowell, raised their two children and lived in Tennessee for 30 years before moving to Baton Rouge, which has been her home since 1976.
