
Fred Martin, born Dec. 19, 1919, passed away at 5 p.m. Wednesday, Aug. 19, 2009, at St. Joseph Hospice Carpenter House, after a brief illness. He was a retired Exxon USA employee with 43 years of service and a U.S. Army veteran of World War II. He was preceded in death by his wife of 58 years, Mabel Leblanc Martin. He is survived by a son and daughter-in law, Fred and Pam Foster Martin, of Greenwell Springs; four daughters and sons-in-law, Joan Martin and Ron Kosage, of Pine Grove, Calif., Lisas and Denis Hotard, of Lenoir City, Tenn., Sonia and Tim Moran and Tracey and Kevin Kurz, all of Baton Rouge; a brother, Bill Martin; and six grandchildren, Dylan Martin, Nicole Knott, Meghan Kurz and Amanda, Sophie and Claire Moran. He was also preceded in death by his parents, Alfred and Eva Martin; brothers, Louis, Eddie and Al Martin; and a sister, Mary Tate. Visiting at St. Louis King of France Catholic Church on Saturday, Aug. 22, from 9 a.m. until Mass of Christian Burial at 10 a.m., celebrated by the Rev. Jack Nutter. Interment in Greenoaks Memorial Park. Pallbearers will be his children and a grandson. Donations may be made to the American Cancer Societyor to St. Joseph's Hospice.
