

Bernie Chatham, born October 1, 1931, passed away at age 89, in Dallas, Texas, on February 19, 2021. Bernie was born and raised in in Shaw, MS. Although born in Ole Miss Territory, Bernie chose LSU as his alma mater and has bled Purple & Gold ever since. Bernie has to be in the Hall of Fame of great Tiger Fans. His loyalty to LSU never wavered and not just for Football but for all LSU sports (Men’s and Women’s). Shortly after attending LSU he worked as a sportswriter for The Times Picayune. Later he created a sports publication called, TOUCHDOWN! He also published a Cookbook of favorite recipes from famous Louisiana Athletes called, Time Out for Cooking. As much as he loved the Tigers, his true joy came from being Sonja and Paul Cobb’s Dad. He will be dearly missed by Sonja, Paul, Daughter-in-law Lauren, his four grandsons, Landon, Robert, Webb, and Paul, the Chatham family, the Stokes Family, and the Stange Families, lifelong friend Paula Cobb Stephens and countless others who he loved and made them often smile. Bernard was the youngest of the four children born of William D, and Vera Chatham. His siblings: Dale, William and Connie and their spouses predeceased him. Relatives and friends are invited to the Memorial Service at Rabenhorst Funeral Homes, 825 Government St, Baton Rouge, LA 70802 on Saturday, February 27, 2021, at Noon with visitation from 10:00 AM until Service Time. *If you plan to attend please wear a hint of purple or gold *
