George "Sonny" Gary Ventrella, Jr.

George “Sonny” Gary Ventrella, Jr. passed away on Wednesday, March 17, 2021, at the age of 43. Sonny was a loving son, brother, uncle and friend with an infectious smile and a big heart that everyone adored. He never met a stranger and to know him was to love him. He had a love for the outdoors and his precious pup, Millie. Sonny was diagnosed in August 2020 with kidney failure. Although he battled with his illness, Sonny was proud to spend his final days working side by side with his father. Even though his mom was taking care of him through his most difficult times, he was taking care of her, too. Sonny is survived by his father, Gary Ventrella; mother, Dione Ventrella and significant other, Joel Gottschalck; step-mother, Joani Ventrella; siblings, Joey Ventrella and wife, Ashley, Jamie Ventrella and fiancé, Billy Jones, Ryan Ventrella and wife, Jessica and Lauren Ventrella and husband, Adam Brister; six nieces and nephews, Anthony, Mia, Slayde, Logan, Maci and Luke; and a host of other loving family members. He is preceded in death by his grandparents, Tony and Millie Ventrella and Nick and Betty Martrain. Visitation will be at Greenoaks Funeral Home, 9595 Florida Blvd., Baton Rouge, LA, on Sunday, March 21, 2021, from 4:00PM until 7:00PM. Visitation will resume at Greenoaks on Monday, March 22, 2021 from 9:00AM until the time of funeral services at 10:00AM. Burial will immediately follow at Greenoaks Memorial Park.
