

George Carlton Starns, Sr., a resident of Mobile, passed away on Thursday, February 20, 2025, at The Retreat Hospice Care Center in Mobile, Alabama at the age of 85. Born in Baton Rouge, LA in 1939 to his loving parents, the late Vernon and Annie Starns. George was the loving husband of the late LaNona Janeille Starns. He is survived by his children, Georgia Ann Starns Soileau (Alton) of Prairieville, LA., George Carlton Starns, Jr. (Amanda), Carl Ray Starns (Joy) of Springfield, LA., Mark Douglas Starns of New Orleans, LA., James Alan Lawrence (Kim) of Jackson, MS. and the late Donald Wayne Starns. Stepfather of Daria Lawrence Yeager. Brother of Ann Starns Spring (Charles) of Hammond, LA., Sue Starns Elder of Cuba, AL., Marshall Ray Starns of Baton Rouge, LA., Felix Kernan Starns of Prairieville, LA., Vincent Starns and the late Vernon Lee and Ruth Elaine Starns. Brother-in-Law of Earline Sicard Starns of Ponchatoula, LA. Devoted grandfather of Michelle Leigh Starns Carmichael (Brandon) of Starkville, MS. Carli Jaslin Soileau Loflin (Dustin) of Baton Rouge, LA, Allison Lawrence Higgins (Frank) of San Antonio, TX, James Austin Lawrence of Abita Springs, LA., Arizona Skylar-Lee Starns of Springfield, LA., Bobby and Brandi Ferguson of LA., Ethan Campbell and Ashlynn Zentgrath of Springfield, LA. George was the loving companion of Jean Presley and family of Mobile, AL. George retired as the Vice President of Colonial Trailways Tour Bus Company, Marketing Sales Manager of Continental Trailways Bus Company and Greyhound Bus Lines. He is also survived by many great grandchildren, nieces and nephews throughout the south. His family is not all by blood but by LOVE.
Officiating the service will be Pastor Kirk Jones of Fellowship Baptist Church in Prairieville, LA.
Pallbearers: George Starns, Jr. Carl Starns, James Lawrence, Austin Lawrence, Arizona Starns and Brandon Carmichael.

Friends and family are invited to attend a funeral service on Thursday, February 27th, 2025, at Greenoaks Funeral Home, 9595 Florida Blvd., Baton Rouge, LA. 70815 at 2:00 PM. Visitation will be from 12:00 PM until 1:00 PM. Burial will follow in Greenoaks Memorial Park.
