Gerald Ray "Country" Smith Sr. passed away on Sunday, Sept. 27, 2009, at his residence in Baton Rouge at the age of 59. He was a member of Local 198. "Country" was a very outgoing guy with numerous friends and will be greatly missed. Visitation at Rabenhorst Funeral Home East, 11000 Florida Blvd., on Tuesday, Sept 29, from 5 p.m. to 9 p.m., and Wednesday from 11 a.m. until service at 1 p.m., with Brother Ron Lambe officiating. Burial in Resthaven Gardens of Memory. Survived by his ex-wife, Debbie Corley, mother of their two children, Denise Breaux and Gerald Ray "Jay" Smith Jr. Also survived by his two sisters and brother-in-law, Linda and Joe Kling, and Kay Walock; and two brothers and sister-in-law, E.L. and Karen Smith, and Dale Smith. He had a close relationship with nephews, Jeremy and Brandon Walock, who are among numerous other nephews and nieces. Preceded in death by his parents, Erwin and Barbara Smith; and grandparents, Laura and Albert Fredericks, and Jason Walock. >
