Geraldine "Jerry" Welch Metz was called Home on July 19, 2013. She was surrounded by her devoted husband of 66 years, David Allen Metz, Sr.; sons, David, Jr., Eddie; and daughter, Sherry Sibley. She was a native of Chicago, IL and a resident of Baton Rouge. She retired from Patterson&Redmond Equip. and was a member of Redeemer Baptist Church and enjoyed singing in the choir and teaching Sunday school. Jerry will always be remembered for her beautiful smile and ability to see the bright side in every situation. She was a devoted wife and the proud matriarch of 5 generations! The scripture best describing her life: "She is a woman of strength and dignity, and has no fear of old age. When she speaks, her words are wise, and kindness is the rule for everything she says. She watches carefully all that goes on through out her household, and is never lazy. Her children stand and bless her; so does her husband. He praises her with these words: There are many fine women in the world, but you are the best of them all! Charm can be deceptive and beauty doesn't last, but a woman who fears and reverences God shall be greatly praised." Prov. 31: 25-30. Visitation from 9-11am, service at 11am at Redeemer Baptist Church, 14140 S. Harrell's Ferry Rd., BR, LA, Monday, July 22, conducted by the Rev. Mark Rogers. Interment will follow at Resthaven Gardens of Memory. A guest registry is available athttp://www.rabenhorst.com" target="_blank">www.rabenhorst.com.
