Gladys Estelle Smith, a native and resident of Baton Rouge passed away on Tuesday, April 5, 2016 at the age of 76. Bootsie, alongside of her husband of sixty years, Ray L. Smith, established Aluminum Specialties Manufacturing Company in 1964 which is still a thriving business today run by her family. She is survived by her husband; two sisters, Barbara Nolan and Darlene Jones; three children, Deborah Ann Smith, Darrell R. Smith, Sr. and wife Sharon and Donna Smith Benefield and husband Robert Benefield. She leaves behind eight grandchildren; Brandi Leigh O’Neal, Jimmie Wayne O’Neal, Jr. and wife Christy, Darrell R. Smith, Jr. and William ‘Cody’ Smith, Brandon Buhler and wife Cappy, Chris Buhler and wife Dana, Corey Buhler and wife Celeste and Raegan Benefield. She also leaves fourteen great grandchildren. Visitation will be held at Greenoaks Funeral Home on Wednesday, April 6, 2016 from 5pm to 9pm and will continue Thursday, April 7, 2016 from 10am until services at 12pm. Entombment will follow in Greenoaks Memorial Park.
